Deep underwater,
pressure evolves spirit.

Domhayn: a fusion of tradition and innovation. Smooth and rare, with an exceptional story.

ORIGIN
Derived from the Gaelic word for deep, Domhayn submerge compact casks of distilled spirit over 200 meters (656 feet) under water.

The journey encourages a unique interaction between casks wood and spirit, thanks to the functions of compression and decompression.

The result?

A unique compositional evolution not 'claimed' but scientifically validated...for every single cask we produce.

DISTINCTION

Beyond taste testing, scientific analysis reveals how each spirit evolves, both globally and through changes in abundance at a compound level.

Every cask of Domhayn is independently scientifically analysed using mass spectrometry [PDF].

Truly a spirit unlike any other. Crafted with the most reassuringly molecular attention to detail.

CASKS
Since our process is more pressure than time dependent, we use  compact casks.

Although, our casks are never reused, due to forces at play, there is only one opportunity to achieve the best results.

A casks history is no mystery, each one has its own special story to tell, here

LEGACY

The connection with Scotland and any cask of Domhayn, is measurable down to a 3 meter square.

Handwritten grid co-ordinates on every bottle immortalise the precise location where the cask was submerged.

Additionally, each cask's 'touchdown' moment is filmed, for prosperity, validation and for you to share the ultimate story.

LOCATION

Breath-taking, enchanting and wild. Scotland's lochs are Ice Age remnants of a landscape forged from giant 400-million-year-old intercontinental collisions.

Among the finest freshwater locations on Earth with the necessary depth for this purpose, their rich heritage, storied history, and enigmatic allure stir cherished memories and beckon future adventures.

STYLE

"Spirit in a paper bag"

by Domhayn, 2026

Unpretentious. A wee doff-of-the-hat to boundary pushers, and an artistic contrast to the complex masterpiece inside. â€‹

Some select Domhayn bottles are presented in a limited edition, handmade, leather-lined, wax-cotton bottle bag.

Made in special collaboration with Canadian fashion designer Charlotte McKeough whose brave creative work has graced MoMA, Paul Smith and Vogue.

SUBMERSION

Freshly filled with choice spirit, a cask is submerged into the darkness.

Below 200 meters (656 feet) it's pitch black and pressure approaches 20 bar (283 psi), nearly 5 times the pressure inside a Champagne bottle.

At a microscopic level, wood-trapped air is squashed to one 20th of its original volume, causing the spirit to explore to new places.

EXCLUSIVITY

Select "cut-of-the-cut" spirit, customised by Domhayn.

Privileged to have  voyaged to a particular spot and depth, a place no humans have been.

Transformed like a diamond, by pressure, in a single-use cask less than an octave in size.

Every Domhayn bottling is a flawless work of art.

ASCENT

During ascent, as air expands back to its original volume, further microscopic movement occurs.

This diffusion during descent and ascent evolves the spirit's composition differently to traditionally matured spirit, even over the same time period.

TASTE

Since inception, nearly two decades ago, our sole vision has been to create a complete experience, something which resonates deeper than taste alone.

Today, the art of Domhayn centres on fusing traditional craft with innovation to deliver that reality with the utmost care and precision.

Savouring these memorable, individual expressions while indulging in the story of their journey is the adventure that awaits.

As for the taste of each cask...
